The mind behind Nostalgia Shaders is community user RRe36. Before we jump into what the shader pack does and how it improves Minecraft, we need to have a look at who made it and why. It is considered one of the best shader packs for Minecraft and there are a few reasons that would explain this common belief amongst the Minecraft community. Nostalgia Shaders is one of the many shader packs you can get for Minecraft. Shade packs have a very important role and while some of them may have a detrimental effect in terms of game performance, they complement Minecraft and elevate textures and the visuals from compatible resource packs. You might have to login afterwards when you start the launcher.If you are satisfied with the way lighting, shadows, water, and how the sky looks in Vanilla Minecraft you have either not seen what a shader pack can do or you are a Minecraft purist. Just rename it to launcher_profiles.json and replace the existing file.
The new launcher should have created a file called launcher_ in your Minecraft data ( %appdata%) folder. You can prevent that by launching the launcher.jar file it downloads to the Minecraft data ( %appdata%) folder when you first launch it directly. Using this directly to launch the game will show a message that you should update the launcher. If the old Minecraft.exe launcher is not working for you, you can download the "Linux / Other" variant. Nethertheless, you can report bugs regarding the old and new launcher on the bug tracker (if they are not already reported) to make sure the devs are aware of them.
